Nissan launches "all-in-one" service: charging electric vehicles with solar energy

Nissan (Nissan) is the first manufacturer to develop electric vehicles in Japan. As early as 2010, it has released “Leaf” and joined the ranks of pure electric vehicles. In order to combine electric vehicles and energy storage systems, Nissan has launched an “all-in-one” service in the UK, integrating solar panels, energy storage batteries and energy management systems to make use of solar energy and can be used for electric vehicle charging.

With the increase in the amount of solar panels and rooftop solar energy, energy storage systems are becoming more and more popular, allowing daytime stored electricity to be used at night, and can also help to charge their own electric vehicles, reducing the need for charging stations. According to Nissan, this solution can reduce users' dependence on the grid and save energy costs, which is estimated to reduce energy costs by 66%.

Nissan launches Nissan Energy Solar: the ultimate all-in-one energy solution for UK homes

In order to allow electric vehicles to be recharged at home, major manufacturers are now integrating solar or energy storage systems, such as Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Mitsubishi, BYD and Tesla. In 2016, Nissan also launched the “xStorage” home storage battery system, which consists of 16 Leaf recovery batteries with a maximum storage capacity of 4.2 kWh.

Nissan's new home solar energy storage solution connects the xStorage to solar panels. The capacity of the energy storage system is subdivided into 4.2kWh, 6kWh and 7.2kWh for home power supply. It can also be a Leaf of Nissan. Charging with the e-NV200 electric car.

Among the renewable energy sources, the solar industry is advancing far ahead of other industries. According to Francisco Carranza, Managing Director of European Energy, Nissan, there are about 880,000 household solar panels in the UK, which can increase the value of the property in addition to reducing electricity bills.

Solar panels can produce a lot of electricity during peak hours such as strong sunshine and summer, but the grid can't be loaded, and no extra power can be used at night, so power generators and manufacturers turn their attention to energy storage batteries. Since the energy storage battery can be equipped with smart functions that allow users to remotely control, Nissan's new solution also includes an energy management system that can control and manage its own power usage, improve the efficiency and stability of the energy system, and effectively utilize solar energy. Storage capacity can reduce household energy costs and carbon emissions.
