The SC5010 can supply up to 112 LEDs with up to 30mA per channel. The device's integrated control loop architecture enables programmable switching frequencies up to 2.2MHz, which is the key to phase shift dimming with very small, very thin inductors.

The SC5010's ultra-fast transient response is capable of handling line transients up to 10V/Î¼s. Its innovative loop architecture prevents the display from flickering and turning off due to line transients (which may be present in automotive applications). The driver includes I2C flexibility and three PWM dimming control modes. It has a 5000:1 PWM wide input adjustment range at 200 Hz and a dimming frequency range from 100 Hz to 30 kHz. The SC5010 also offers user-selectable 9-bit or 10-bit dimming resolution, as well as a 5-bit analog dimming register, which is used in conjunction with the PWM to increase the resolution of the dimming.

In addition, the SC5010 provides precise backlight color temperature and full screen uniform brightness with +/-1% current matching between channels and +/-1.5% accuracy. It has full protection features including LED open circuit protection and programmable LED short circuit protection, adjustable overvoltage protection (OVP), and overtemperature protection, as well as undervoltage lockout (UVLO) shutdown.
