German automaker Volkswagen plans to launch its first electric car in 2020, competing with Tesla's electric car. In front of the opening of the Paris Motors in September, Volkswagen began to publicize the car and said it was as innovative as the Beatles. The mainstream US online media BI has recently compiled relevant information about Volkswagen electric vehicles to help us understand it more fully.

Volkswagen claims that its electric car will have a range of 399 to 599 kilometers when it is fully charged. No need to be surprised, Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess had a similar statement when introducing the prototype at the Paris Motor Show.

But before that, we have never heard of Volkswagen electric cars using any fully automatic driving function. Volkswagen said it will mass-produce fully-automobile cars around 2025, and cars in 2020 do not have this feature.

Volkswagen's electric cars still retain the steering wheel, but when the car enters the driverless mode, the steering wheel can be retracted into the dashboard. The Volkswagen automatic driving mode is called ID Pilot.

This concept car utilizes the mass modular electrical tool MEB. At the CES show in January 2016, Volkswagen first demonstrated the BUDD-e concept van. Volkswagen has said that by 2020, MEB will provide its electric vehicles with endurance comparable to today's gasoline-powered vehicles.

Volkswagen claims that if the owner is not at home, ID Pilot can use the new delivery service to help receive the package. Since Volkswagen is planning to test fully automated driving technology in 2025, its car is likely to automatically receive parcels, but we still need to wait for the public to announce more details.

Competition in the field of electric vehicles is becoming increasingly fierce. Tesla recently announced that its upgraded battery will increase the Model S's cruising range to 507 kilometers in the "Ludicrous mode". Model X's cruising range in the “ridiculous mode†can also reach 465 kilometers. At the end of 2016, Chevy Bolt delivered a cruising range of 383 kilometers. The Volkswagen concept car has not yet been mass-produced, so whether it can reach the estimated mileage remains to be proved. However, the competition in the field of electric vehicles is becoming more and more fierce, and it is very important to increase the cruising range.
Volkswagen plans to launch more than 30 electric vehicles by 2025, with annual sales expected to be between 2 million and 3 million.
