Alibaba has successfully acquired cool disk, and will soon announce that the acquired cool disk will remain independent operation. The news is expected to be announced soon today or tomorrow.
Alibaba's M&A negotiations with Cool Disk have been going on for a long time. In May of this year, Cool Disk CEO Gu Zhicheng said that Cool Disk is seeking C-round financing. Currently, it is talking with several companies about financing matters. There is one in the negotiation for Alibaba, but everything It was not finalized.
Founded in 2011, Cool Disk was founded by Angel investor Xue Manzi and Internet Express CEO Huang Mingming. In October 2011, the B-round investment received by DCM totaled 20 million US dollars. Since then, Huang Mingming has been the chairman of the cool disk, but Huang Mingming has faded out of company management a year ago, which is equivalent to having withdrawn from the cool disk. Baidu Cloud also announced that the total number of users has exceeded 100 million. It has become the "killer" product in Baidu's mobile product matrix after Baidu Mobile Search, Mobile Baidu, Baidu Map, Baidu Magic Map and Baidu Mobile Browser. Baidu Cloud also announced personal cloud storage into the T era during Baidu World Congress this year. Baidu Personal Cloud provides services such as network disk, address book, photo album, article, notepad, SMS, mobile phone retrieval, games, health and so on.
