4G module is an important carrier for connecting objects and objects, and is one of the core components of terminal equipment access to the Internet of Things. With the popularity of 4G, the demand for 4G communication modules in many emerging markets is expanding, so embedded in the ARM platform. How to quickly apply 4G modules on devices?
The 4G communication module integrates components such as a frequency receiver and a signal amplifier to achieve integration. With the development of industry, the demand for embedded devices to access the network is increasing. In the absence of wireless environment such as wired or WiFi, it is a good method to connect to the operator network directly through the 4G communication module to access the Internet. Therefore, this article introduces the reader to the method of using 4G modules under Linux based on ARM platform.
First, the development environment
1) Development host environment:
Ubuntu12.04 (64-bit), arm-fls-linux-guneabi-gcc series cross-compilation chain.
2) Hardware list:
IoT-3960 industrial control board, Longshang 4G module U8300C or U8300W.
3) Software resources:
The kernel source package in the EPC-280_283_287V1.04.iso CD: linux-2.6.35.3-fec60fa.tar.bz2 (the content of the CD can be downloaded from the official website of Zhiyuan Electronics http://).
Second, the hardware overview
IoT-3960L is an industrial IoT network controller developed by Guangzhou Zhiyuan Electronics Co., Ltd. with Freescale i.MX287 processor as its core. It integrates multiple communication interfaces and supports multiple communication protocols. It is cost-effective, feature-rich, stable and compatible. The characteristics of strong sex, the product is shown in Figure 1.

Through the customized Mini-PCIE interface, the IoT-3960L can expand 3G, 4G, GPRS, ZigBee, RFID and other wireless communication modules. The expansion of this article is the Longshang 4G module, the model used is shown in Figure 2.
