Regarding the scale of the Internet of Things industry, Zhao Xiaowu, deputy director of the strategic planning department of ZTE, believes that at least until 2020, the scale of the "materials" connected by the global Internet of Things is about 30 billion to 50 billion pieces. Zhang Keping believes that the Internet of Things can promote smart consumption and achieve “truth, speed and economy”. More importantly, the Internet of Things can help consumers share the consumption experience more conveniently and quickly, and save unnecessary expenses.

From the perspective of intelligent manufacturing, Shen Jie interprets the significance of the Internet of Things standards for manufacturing enterprises. "Future smart home appliances are definitely the mainstream. But now many Chinese companies have encountered a problem. Smart home appliances exported to other countries need to have front-end access, back-end maintenance, including security information, privacy and other issues to be resolved. Without a unified standard, foreign users cannot easily use smart home appliances made in China, and the follow-up maintenance costs of enterprises are also very high.” He believes that the establishment of a perfect Internet of Things international standard system as soon as possible will also develop the growth of China’s smart manufacturing industry.
