OnLive cloud computing game platform landing iPad

OnLive, a cloud computing gaming platform, has announced its entry into the tablet market, launching the OnLive Viewer software in the Apple App Store and offering free downloads.

After the completion of the operation, the screen is transmitted to the client in the form of compressed video. The OnLive platform was officially launched in June this year. It supports the Windows and Mac platforms. In the middle of last month, it launched a mini-host client with a price of only $99, which can be connected to online cloud computing games. The iPad version released today is actually just a browsing client. It can watch other players' online game screens in real time, communicate with friends, purchase and manage games. However, OnLive company said that the tablet version can be exactly the same as other platforms to achieve cloud computing games, only need to wait for game companies to launch game works suitable for touch screen operations.

In addition to the iPad version, OnLive is also developing versions for the iPhone and iPod touch. The Android tablet for Samsung Galaxy Tab is also in beta testing. What's even more interesting is that OnLive also demonstrated the application of the platform outside the game, that is, operating the Windows 7 platform application software via a tablet in a similar remote desktop mode.
