Emerging market growth is fierce

According to statistics, the total number of electric light sources and lighting fixtures in the second quarter of 2010 of the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of Zhongshan was approximately 12,717 (approved for inspection and approval), with a value of $357,266,000, an increase of 26.1% and 53.1% over the same period of last year. Exports of electric light sources and lamps were mainly exported to Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and Russia. Among them, shipments to Europe and the United States were the largest, while other export markets had increased at different rates. Emerging markets in Russia increased by 166.8%, the South American market increased by about 121%, the Middle East market also increased by 43%, and Africa's growth rate was only 14% slower. Among the emerging markets, only the ASEAN market did not rise in value, but fell by 8.6% over the same period of last year.

In the second quarter, the export of electric light sources and lamps in the area under the jurisdiction of the Zhongshan Bureau increased significantly. Excluding the impact of other lamps that were not included in the 2009 Catalogue of Inspections that were not subject to inspection and supervision, the export of electric light sources and lamps in the region increased by approximately 17.5%. According to the relevant staff of the Zhongshan Bureau, it is expected that the export growth of electric light sources and lamps within the jurisdiction will be maintained at about 15% in the third quarter.

"Low-cost strategy" has hidden concerns

“Currently, among the current production enterprises of electric light sources and lamps in Zhongshan area, the number of private small and medium-sized enterprises accounts for more than 90%, and the problem is also the most.” The relevant staff of the bureau said that the current problems in the lighting industry are mainly manifested in the lack of awareness of long-term development strategies. For example, since 2008, affected by the subprime mortgage crisis in the high-end markets of the United States and Europe, and the Greek credit crisis, many electric light sources and lighting companies in Zhongshan have been developing Middle East, South America, and ASEAN regions that focus on mid- to low-end products. In order to pursue profit, we are blindly meeting customer's low price requirements and reducing the overall quality of export lamps. Among them, the problems of energy-saving lamps, outdoor lamps, and LED lamps are more prominent.
