Light pollution
A general term for the negative effects of interfering or excessive light radiation (including visible light, ultraviolet and infrared radiation) on human health and human living environment.
Light pollution from exterior lighting
Mainly due to the negative impact of building facade lighting, road lighting, square lighting, advertising lighting, sign lighting, outdoor functions of stadiums and parking lots, and landscape lighting on people, the environment, astronomical observation, transportation, etc. .
Disturbing light
The most diffuse, directional, and spectral characteristics of spilled light, which have a negative effect on human activity, flora and fauna, or interference. (CIE definition: the amount of astigmatism, direction or spectrum that causes annoyance, distraction, or loss of visual information in a particular situation).
Spill light
Light that scatters from the illumination device and illuminates outside the illumination range.
Reflected light
The light from outdoor lighting is reflected through the wall, the ground or other illuminated surface to the surrounding space, and interferes with people and the environment;
Valve increment increment
The disability glare caused by road lighting fixtures reduces the need for visual recognition to increase the contrast of brightness.
Sky glow or sky glow
Scattering (including visible and non-visible) light from gas molecules and aerosols in the atmosphere reflects the night sky light that forms in the direction of astronomical observations. It consists of two separate components:
1. Natural sky glow: the part of the sky glow caused by the celestial body and the upper atmosphere of the Earth's atmosphere;
2. Artificial Sky Glow: The part of the sky glow (outdoor artificial lighting) formed by artificial radiation sources, which includes light radiation that is reflected directly up and through the ground into the air.
Upward Light Output Ratio (ULOR) Upward Light Output Ratio
The ratio of the luminous flux that the lighting source or luminaire emits above the reference level, under standard design conditions.
Actual upward light output ratio (ULOR inst) Installed (ULOR).
The proportion of light flux that the light source or luminaire emits above the reference level when the lighting installation is in the actual installation location (condition).
Curfew Curfew
Controlling the interference of light and light pollution requires a relatively strict period of time, usually a time-segmentation practice in which government administrations, especially local governments, apply lighting control.
Environmental zones
According to the planning or activity content, the area that meets the requirements for interference with light and light pollution is required. The area is divided into four areas from E1 to E4 (the scope of these four areas and the requirements for limiting light pollution, see Table 19 of Chapter 19 of the Beijing Urban Lighting Technology Guide).
Related Lighting Terms Lighting Lighting
A measure that makes an object and its environment visible through light. Broadly speaking also includes the application of ultraviolet radiation and infrared radiation.
Luminous (light) environment
The combined effect of the illumination system (natural and artificial) and the photometric properties of all surfaces in the environment.
Lighting Technology
The combination of lighting technology and related scientific principles, including access to light, application of light and metering technology.
Lighting system
The basic system of lighting equipment according to its installation location or function.
Urban lighting Urban lighting
A general term for urban functional lighting and nighttime landscape lighting.
Outdoor lighting Exterior lighting
Exterior of the building, except for road traffic lighting, including outdoor work space (worksite and dock) lighting, security lighting, sports and entertainment venue lighting, square lighting, urban night lighting, advertising lighting, etc.
Green lighting Green lights
Energy conservation, environmental protection, and lighting that contribute to people's learning, work efficiency and quality of life, as well as physical and mental health.
