According to LEDinside, an industry research agency owned by TrendForce, the price of LED bulbs has been steadily declining this month for the retail price of warm white LED bulbs used to replace traditional 40W and 60W incandescent bulbs. Although the price of LED bulbs in the European region has dropped significantly compared with other regions, its average selling price is still higher than other regions, with an average selling price of about 29 US dollars. In replacing the 60-watt light bulb, the average retail price of LED bulbs in August was 43.8 US dollars, and the unit price fell by 1% from July. The most significant price drop was in the United States, where the average price dropped by about 5%. The price decline in other regions was not obvious. Due to the exchange rate factor, slight price increases in the UK have occurred.

LEDinside said that in the case of LED bulbs that replace traditional 40W incandescent bulbs, the average price per 1,000 lumens in August is 51 US dollars; and the average price per 1,000 lumens of LED bulbs that replaces the traditional 60W incandescent bulbs is a steady decline. It is estimated that by 2012, LED bulb prices will be more acceptable to consumers. It is expected that the LED lighting market will have more significant growth under the policy of banned white light bulbs in 2012.
