[High-tech LED News] South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced that it has achieved a new breakthrough in LED technology. It can successfully manufacture single crystal GaN on amorphous glass substrates, and will realize the use of glass substrates to produce ultra-large LED displays.
Glass substrates for very large products may reduce production costs. Although the GaN LED display available on the market is 2 inches, this new technology can produce a GaN LED display that is 400 times larger than current products.
According to Samsung, GaN LEDs will be used for large-scale lighting and advanced displays in the next few years to personalize buildings, which will take 10 years to develop for commercial production.
