When L1 manufacturers enter the L2 manufacturing field, they can reduce costs and reduce the wasted lumen output by customized demand. Zhou Xuejun said that if the minimum lumen output of an LED luminaire reaches 256 lumens, but the luminaire design only needs 250 lumens, it will result in 6 lumens output waste. At this point, if the L1 manufacturer takes over the L2 production, it can effectively control the waste situation and design a luminaire that fully meets the L2 utilization requirements.

“In addition, another advantage is that L1 manufacturers can tailor LEDs when they enter L2 production, providing greater flexibility, which will benefit downstream manufacturers and produce products that are more economical and more efficient.” Zhou Xuejun mentioned .

“It is expected that in the future, L2 products produced by customized specifications will be more and more in the North American market, Europe, Middle East and Africa (collectively referred to as EMEA) and South Asian Market (ASEAN), but such demand is still weak in China. Zhou Xuejun mentioned that in the future, only the compatibility between L1 and L2 products will become closer, which will enable midstream and upstream LED manufacturers to reduce production costs.

Moreover, Zhou Xuejun also mentioned that the emerging Internet of Things (IoT) industry in recent years will further stimulate the market demand for smart lighting products, especially the integration of higher-order lighting systems.

"In the future, the smallest controller will be the L2 stage product, because it is impossible to add many signals and controllers in the L1 phase, and the L2 luminaire IC driver is also likely to become a single luminaire control point. By joining like Microsoft or Cisco With an application interface such as (Cisco), L2 can be a complete lighting system," said Zhou Xuejun.
