On March 19th, Magna InternaTIonal Inc. of Canada issued a statement saying that it will build a seat factory in Taizhou, China, for the new SUV built by Geely's Volvo based CMA platform.
Magna held a meeting with investors and analysts in Toronto, Canada, during which time it announced that it will open a new seat production plant in Taizhou. The plant is currently under construction in the Taizhou City gathering area and is expected to be completed by mid-2016.
The factory covers an area of ​​5,200 square meters and will produce a seat system assembly with a small crossover SUV, which will be the first model to be developed based on the Volvo Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. The new plant is expected to create 90 new jobs.
The new Taizhou Seat will be Magna's 33rd factory in China and the fifth seat factory.
