We plan to use one yuan of energy-saving lamps throughout Beijing for three years. Zhang Yanyou, a member of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, told reporters yesterday that the government subsidized 90% of the yuan and the citizens’ self-sufficient one-yuan energy-saving lamps will complete the promotion of Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chongwen and Xuanwu four cities this year, and will be pushed to Chaoyang, Haidian, Fengtai and Shijingshan next year. The city, and in 2010 arrived in various remote suburban counties. By then, Beijing is expected to achieve the goal of eliminating incandescent lamps and popularizing energy-saving lamps among residents of the city.
Citizens chasing energy-saving lamps
The one-yuan energy-saving lamp redemption activity launched on June 15 this year was enthusiastically sought after by the citizens of the four districts. As of yesterday, the one-yuan energy-saving lamps have been promoted in 300 communities, and the number of purchases has exceeded 3.2 million.
The biggest reason why the one-yuan energy-saving lamps are popular among the public is that they can buy high-quality energy-saving lamps at ultra-low prices. The single aunt who lives in the Dongwai Street community of Dongzhimen Street in Dongcheng District showed the reporter the energy-saving detailed account of the energy-saving lamps: a 10-watt energy-saving lamp can replace the 50-watt incandescent lamp, saving 40 watts per hour, and lighting for 4 hours per day. In calculation, it takes only 13 days to save 1 yuan of electricity. After one year, this light can save 28 yuan for the family.
Saving electricity by 120 million a year
Yang Zhihui, director of the Environmental and Resource Comprehensive Utilization Division of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, told reporters that this year plans to subsidize the promotion of 5 million energy-saving lamps. These energy-saving lamps can save 200 million kWh per year after they get on the job, saving about 120 million yuan in electricity bills.
Energy-saving lamps are used to reduce the peak load
Yang Zhihui said that the situation of tight power supply in this city this summer has not been fundamentally reversed, and 12% of power resources are consumed in the field of lighting. This summer's peak power load is about 14.6 million kilowatts, replacing 5 million energy-saving lamps, saving 200 million kWh, 8 hours a day, 365 days a year, equivalent to instantaneously reducing the peak summer electricity load of 75,000 kilowatts.
Beijing’s Tianhui is therefore more blue
Ling Wenjie, deputy director of the Environment and Resources Comprehensive Utilization Department of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, showed the reporter the environmental protection account of the energy saving lamp: the calculation of 1 degree electricity is equivalent to 0.37 kilograms of standard coal, replacing 5 million energy-saving lamps, saving 200 million yuan per year. Electricity can save 76,000 tons of standard coal. It is equivalent to coal that can reduce 30 trains and 1,500 wagons per year.
Reducing the power generation capacity by 200 million degrees also means that Beijing can emit 205,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year. The image conversion of this figure is equivalent to the carbon dioxide emissions of 2.25 million people in the four districts of Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chongwen and Xuanwu. Beijing’s Tianhui is therefore more blue. Ling Wenjie said.
Three roads pilot energy-saving street lamps
Yang Zhihui revealed that during the month, energy-saving LED street lights with the same lighting and daylight will be piloted in three sections including Anyuan Road, Lingjing Hutong and Xihuang Chenggener Road. A total of 100 energy-saving street lights will be installed on both sides of the road. If the pilot is successful, it will be promoted throughout the city.
