08 Continental semiconductor discrete device data analysis (Figure)

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Information Industry, China's mainland has produced 199.5 billion discrete semiconductor devices from January to October this year, a year-on-year increase of 12.0%. The sales revenue of products increased by 20.0% year-on-year to reach 72 billion yuan. It is estimated that by the end of this year, the output will reach 250 billion, and the sales revenue of products will reach 86.5 billion yuan. From 2004 to 2007, the annual compound growth rate of sales revenue of local semiconductor discrete device products in mainland China reached 27.8%. It is expected that in 2008, under the promising prospects of China's electronics manufacturing industry, it will grow at a rate of 18.0%, and product sales revenue will reach 13.43 billion US dollars (see Figure 1).

In 2007, China's semiconductor discrete devices still showed the characteristics of “big-in and big-out”. Imports were far greater than exports, and imports were 1.7 times of exports, but their local production and export capabilities are increasing year by year. According to customs statistics, from January to October 2007, the total imports of semiconductor discrete devices in China were 12.655 billion US dollars. According to this growth rate, it will reach 15.186 billion US dollars by the end of this year, an increase of 15.3%. At the same time, the total export value from January to October was US$7.783 billion. According to this growth rate, it will reach US$9.34 billion by the end of this year, an increase of 52.1% year-on-year (the import and export volume includes all trade methods and the re-import of domestic goods, See Figure 2). The average import price is $0.055 and the average export price is $0.038.

In the import semiconductor discrete devices from January to October, the largest import value is power transistors, accounting for 30% of the total imports, followed by photosensitive semiconductor devices and LEDs, accounting for 23.8%, diodes (except photodiodes or LEDs) The assembled piezoelectric crystals accounted for 16.3% and 13% of the total imports, respectively. The fastest growing import is the assembled piezoelectric crystal with a growth rate of 21.8% (see Figure 3). In the semiconductor discrete devices exported from January to October, photosensitive semiconductor devices and light-emitting diodes accounted for 50.6% of the total exports, followed by ordinary diodes, accounting for 14.4% of the total exports.

If the domestic goods are re-imported, regardless of the processing of raw materials and re-exports, the import and export volume in 2007 will be 92.1 and 5.42 billion US dollars respectively. The total application scale of semiconductor discrete devices in China in 2007 should be 15.17 billion US dollars, which is higher than that in 2006. 9.3%. The total application size is expected to increase by 13% in 2008 to reach $17 billion.

The driving force behind the growth in demand for discrete semiconductor devices in China is mainly from the three major fields of computers and peripherals, consumer electronics and communications, while display, automotive electronics, electronic lighting and medical electronics are the areas of rapid growth.
