South Korea recently announced the new Electronic Product Safety Control Operating Scheme, which replaced the Electrical Product Safety Approval Operating Scheme from January 1, 2009.
The main change in the new specification is that electrical products are divided into two categories, namely "products that require safety verification" and "products that manufacturers can self-safety confirmation". Overall, the procedure for security verification is not much different from the previous one, but the manufacturer's self-declaration must include a test report issued by the verification unit. Products that manufacturers can self-declare can be divided into the following categories: electrical switches, isolation transformers, electrical products, audio-visual equipment, information and office equipment, lighting equipment. For products other than the above categories, the path to declare compliance must be judged according to the product name. Therefore, manufacturers should carefully confirm which category of products they belong to under the new system.
