Osram Lighting: Incandescent incandescent lamps in Europe and America since 2009

Martin Goetzeler, president of Siemens Osram Lighting, said in an interview with the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reporter that it will stop the sale of low-energy incandescent lamps in stages in Europe. He said that the company will focus on energy-saving lighting fixtures using light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and organic ELs (Electroluminescence), and said organic EL lighting fixtures will be put into production before 2012.

In an interview, Goetzeler said that in 2009, in Europe and in 2012, the sales of incandescent lamps will be stopped in the United States in order of wattage from high to low. He also said that in the future, the production capacity of LED components in Germany and the packaging process in Malaysia will increase to twice the capacity of last year, emphasizing that the company is accelerating the development and investment of environmentally friendly lighting fixtures using LEDs.
