The figure shows the application circuit diagram for connecting an external reference power supply. This reference voltage appears on the VREF pin in the circuit due to the on-chip reference being high precision, low drift, and factory calibrated, and when the ADC is enabled. Therefore, the on-chip reference can be used as a 2.5V reference power supply for system expansion. To use the on-chip reference outside of the microswitch, it should be buffered on the VREF pin and a 0.1μF capacitor should be connected between this pin and AGND.
