Atmel maXTouch Controller Helps Sharp Smart Phones Enter the Chinese Market

Atmel® Corporation, a leader in touch and microcontroller solutions, announced that its maXTouchTM mXT224 touch controller has been selected by the Sharp® Corporation SH8128U smartphone. Atmel's maXTouch solution will provide Sharp SH8128U smart phone users with an unintentional touch rejection function, more accurate touch performance and longer battery life, thereby enhancing the overall user experience. Sharp's new smart phone, the SH8128U, is now available in the Chinese market. The phone uses a 3.5-inch 480 x 800-pixel WVGA touch screen, runs Android-based operating system Tapas OS optimized for the Chinese network, and is sold through China Telecom. The Sharp SH8128U smartphone also includes features such as Bluetooth, WLAN, microSD card slot, and 5-megapixel autofocus camera with flash.
