Changzhou Toshiba successfully developed ultra-high voltage converter transformer

Since this year, Changzhou Toshiba Transformer Co., Ltd. has successively developed a three-phase integrated/800 kV split transformer, 220 kV and 500 kV smart transformer. Recently, the 500 kV converter transformer independently researched and manufactured by the company successfully passed all factory tests.

This product was developed for the large-scale hydropower station Gezhouba Power Station in China. The data shows that the performance of the product meets and some of the indicators are better than those of national standards and technical agreements. The converter transformer is the key equipment in the UHVDC transmission project, and is the core equipment of both ends of the commutation and inverter in AC and DC transmission systems. Its quality is related to the normal operation of the entire power grid project. Therefore, the reliability and technical performance of the converter transformer are very high. Changzhou Toshiba Corporation, with its strong technical strength and R&D capability, has overcome the combined effects of AC and DC electric fields and magnetic fields under the joint efforts of scientific and technical personnel and all employees, and therefore has a special structure, complexity, and a manufacturing environment. The processing quality required many difficulties, and successfully developed and manufactured high-quality products with milestones in the company’s product development.
