Taiwan: Home Appliance Industry Continues Expansion to Mainland

After investing and setting up factories in Tianjin, Suzhou and Dongguan on the mainland of the motherland, on the 24th, Taiwan's largest home appliance company, SAMPO, started a new home appliance company, the Xingbao Science Park, in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province.

Kunshan City is one of the investment-rich companies in the Mainland where investment is most concentrated. Taiwan's largest home appliance company, Senbao Group, invests here to show that Taiwan’s home appliance industry continues to expand to the mainland.

It is understood that the Star Bao Science Park invested by the Sin Bao Group is located in Zhengyi Town in the western part of Kunshan City and is a cooperation project between Xinbao Technology Group and Zhengyi Town Government under the Taiwan Sinbo Group. The project covers an area of ​​1600 acres and has six LCD and LCD TV production lines. The annual output can reach 4 million, of which the production of LCD TVs accounts for 10%. In addition, there are two DVD player production lines, with an annual output of 1 million units; a plasma TV production line with a monthly production capacity of 10,000 units. Chen Shenghao, chairman of Saobao Group, told the media here that in 2002, Senbao Group ranked 80th among the top 1000 manufacturing companies in Taiwan, ranking first in the home appliance industry. From January to September this year, the total revenue of the Sinbo Group was NT$17.1 billion, an increase of 50% over the same period of the previous year. In the past, the main market of the Saobao Group was in Taiwan. Since the beginning of this year, sales outside Taiwan have exceeded sales in the Taiwan region. As the market prospects of the mainland China market are promising, the production line of the original factory of Sinbao has felt very tight. As a result, the Xingbao Science Park has been further established in Kunshan. The first phase of the park will invest 30 million U.S. dollars, and 50% of the products will be sold on the mainland of the motherland.

Chen Shengjun said that prior to this, the enterprises of Sambo in Tianjin mainly produced refrigerators, and those in Suzhou and Dongguan mainly produced FBT transformers. Since the motherland’s mainland does have low-cost advantages in production, in the future, Xinbao’s production center will shift to the mainland. Sambo's companies in Tianjin also plan to expand production capacity. In the future, Taiwan Xinbao Technology Group will be transformed into a global operation and R&D center.

Chen Yunlin, director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, came to attend the opening ceremony of the company and welcomed Taiwan's home appliance industry to actively participate in the market competition of the motherland.
