Connected lighting expert Gooee claims to have successfully created the world's smallest sensor for LED lighting and the Internet of Things (IOT), which includes the latest artificial eye technology and has an exclusive agency agreement with DELTA Microelectronics.
The agreement establishes new standards in sensing, data and control for the LED lighting industry. Gooee thus became the sole provider of the photovoltaic ASIC technology and the only manufacturer of optoelectronic ASIC luminaires. The agreement echoes the announcement of the exclusive partnership between Gooee and EVRYTHNG's IoT cloud platform, enabling it to run tens of millions of smart lighting terminals on a global network.
The 5x5mm chip features multiple environmental, human and LED performance sensing capabilities that are said to detect motion, direction, backlight, LED color temperature differences, LED lux differences, and ASIC operating temperatures.
To further connect LED lighting manufacturers and the Internet of Things through its "full-stack" operating platform, Gooee and DELTA have teamed up to jointly develop and further develop more advanced sensing functions.
Gooee's chief technology officer, Simon Coombes, said: "For what the chip can do, we're just grabbing the surface. We're working on some really incredible features that will be for Gooee and its customers. The field of connected sensing creates a significant competitive advantage."
Gooee is also working with a major wireless IC supplier to develop a Bluetooth networking protocol. This technology, along with other internal components of the Gooee ecosystem, is said to enable two-way communication of the luminaire for control, sensing, human contact and asset tracking.
