Samsung's 2.1 billion yuan investment in TCL Shenzhen OLED factory

[IT168 News] Last month, TCL planned to invest US$6.97 billion to build its 11th generation TFT-LCD and AMOLED production lines in Shenzhen. According to the announcement, the plant is jointly invested by TCL Corporation, China Star Optoelectronics, and Shenzhen Economic and Trade Information Committee. It is expected to produce 90,000 pieces of glass substrates (3370×2940 mm) per month, and the production line mainly uses oxide semiconductor materials. In today’s press release, TCL announced an additional RMB 21 billion investment (approximately US$ 3.15 billion).

In addition, Samsung will become a partner of the plant and invest RMB 2.1 billion, holding a total of 9.76%.

TCL hopes to start construction before the end of the year and expects to complete construction by the end of January 2018. Equipment will begin to be installed in July 2018.
