January-August 2011 Component and Electronic Product Output

From January to August 2011, the output of major electronic information products in China grew steadily and slowly. Affected by structural adjustment, the output of digital cameras, printers, semiconductor storage disks, semiconductor players (MP3, MP4), and CRT TVs suffered negative growth for six consecutive months. According to the data provided by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the output of major products is as follows:

The growth rate of output of electronic components has decreased significantly compared with the same period of last year. Among the electronic device industry products, from January to August, the production of light emitting diodes (LEDs) was 56.95 billion, an increase of 32.7%; the liquid crystal display modules were 560 million sets, an increase of 20.3%; the integrated circuits were 52.3 billion, an increase of 16.4%, compared with the same period of 2010. The growth rate dropped by 46.77 percentage points; in the electronic component products, the cumulative output of discrete semiconductor devices from January to August was 236.804 billion units, an increase of 13.68% year-on-year, and 22.54% lower than the growth rate in the same period of 2010.

In the month of August, the output of ICs in the industry was 6.581 billion, an increase of 5.03% over the same period of last year and a decrease of 10.93% from the growth rate in the same period of 2010. In the month of August, the output of discrete semiconductor devices in China was 31.675 billion, an increase of 2.73% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 21.53 percentage points lower than the growth rate in the same period of 2010.

Among the home audio-visual industry products, from January to August, the industry produced 71.678 million color TV sets, an increase of 4.9%, of which LCD TVs increased by 10.9%, accounting for 74.5%; PDP TVs increased by 44.9%, accounting for 2.2%.
