**2017 New Energy Bus Sales**
The top three companies captured 57% of the market share:
- **Yutong Bus**: With a 21% market share, Yutong sold 18% of its total vehicles as new energy models. The company had a market value of 52.2 billion yuan as of September 26.
- **Zhongtong Bus**: Holding a 19% market share, Zhongtong saw 51% of its sales come from new energy vehicles. Its market capitalization reached 8.1 billion yuan by the same date.
- **BYD**: Leading with a 17% market share, BYD achieved 100% new energy vehicle sales—though this figure only includes passenger cars. The company's market value was an impressive 177.3 billion yuan as of September 26.

**China’s New Energy Bus Rankings**
1. **Yutong Bus**
Based in Zhengzhou, Yutong is one of China’s largest manufacturers of buses and commercial vehicles. Listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange since 1997, it has been a major player in the new energy sector. In 2012, it launched hybrid and pure electric city buses, and by 2015, it achieved full coverage of energy-saving and new energy products. Despite being based in Henan Province, Yutong has expanded to cities across China, including Harbin, Tianjin, and Lanzhou. One of its top-selling models, the ZK6120CHEVNPG4, sold over 800 units between January and September 2014.
2. **Zhongtong Bus**
With nearly 40 years of experience in bus manufacturing, Zhongtong was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2000. It made its mark in the new energy sector with the launch of its first electric bus in 2006. By 2013, it had established a large-scale new energy bus base. Zhongtong focuses on plug-in hybrid and various charging technologies for electric buses. Its LCK6660EVG model gained popularity, securing over 200 orders from multiple cities across China.
3. **BYD**
As the leader in China’s new energy vehicle industry, BYD has been at the forefront of both battery and vehicle production. Since acquiring a bus manufacturer in Changsha in 2009, it has developed cutting-edge technology and achieved global recognition. BYD’s K9 electric bus has been exported to countries like the U.S., Netherlands, and Colombia. In 2014, its CK6120LGEV2 model led the pure electric bus market, selling 651 units between January and September.
4. **Beiqi Foton Motor**
Foton is one of China’s most comprehensive commercial vehicle manufacturers. Its Ouhui Bus line features advanced green transportation solutions. Foton has successfully integrated new energy technologies into its products, gaining support from major cities such as Beijing and Guangzhou.
5. **Shanghai Shenlong**
Located in Shanghai, Shenlong specializes in the development and sale of buses. It offers a range of power options, including natural gas, hybrid, and hydrogen fuel. Notably, its hydrogen fuel buses received high praise after a test ride by President Xi Jinping.
6. **Nanjing Jinlong**
Established in 2000, Nanjing Jinlong produces city buses, LNG buses, and electric models. During the 2014 Youth Olympics, it supplied 576 electric buses, contributing significantly to the event’s success.
