Discussion on the specification of lighting grade LED

Lighting-grade LEDs can be explored and categorized on many levels. Sorted from the chip side, you can classify low power (High Brightness LED, 20~150mA), high power (High Power LED, <150mA), AC LED and other types from current. The distinction between the package structure can be divided into a single chip package for a single chip package on a single package, or a multi-chip package with a multi-chip package on a single package. High-power LEDs in single-crystal packages are commonly used in lighting products with concentrated light sources such as MR16 and LED projection lamps. The LED bulbs that replace the energy-saving bulbs above 10W use high-power LEDs with multiple packages as the light source. AC LEDs are limited by the technical bottleneck of AC LED chips. At present, LED bulbs that replace incandescent lamps are generally more than 10W. As for the lighting type lighting fixtures, most of the manufacturers at this stage use low-power polycrystalline packages, and some manufacturers adopt high-power polycrystalline packages.

Cost comparison between LED and traditional light source

As for the cost comparison between the LED light source and the traditional light source, the current LED/$mm (Lumen per dollar) is about USD 0.01~0.02. Since the price of LED has dropped sharply last year, the price difference compared with the traditional power-saving bulb has been reduced from 5 to 10 times last year to 2 to 4 times. This is one of the reasons why LED lighting has gradually warmed up this year.

However, because the traditional lighting market is very mature, the brightness and price of traditional lamps do not change in the same proportion, but the LEDs are different. Since the LED is a semiconductor component, the price and brightness will increase in the same proportion. In terms of price considerations, the current LED bulbs below 10W have the highest penetration rate. As for the LED light bar, since the price difference between the product and the traditional lamp is more than 20 times, it is still available in commercial space or government standard.
