When I finally received my Youku VIP custom smart projector after a long wait, I was super excited! The original price was 2499 yuan, but with various discounts, I got it for around 2200 yuan plus some extra gifts. Let me show you what the projector looks like!
The front of the package features the iconic JBL red logo, which makes sense because this projector is co-branded with JBL for its audio system. Here's a look at the packaging:
On the other side, it says "Youku VIP customization, CIBN TV." This is why it's called the Youku VIP custom smart projector — it comes preloaded with Youku content. It offers a mix of free and paid movies, TV shows, and variety programs. However, note that you need a Youku Cool membership to access the full content, and it can't be shared with regular Youku members.

The
Speaker design is very textured, and I went with the black version because I think it looks more premium. There's also a white option available. According to the official specs, the size is about 13x13x13 cm, which is roughly the size of a head — very portable!
The accessories are simple: a charging cable, remote control, and a manual. Once everything was set up, I started testing the projector.
After pressing the power button, the startup screen appeared. Since it was my first time using it, I went through the setup guide. The first screen is the focusing interface, where you can either use the remote or let the projector auto-focus. I found the auto-focus pretty reliable, and it’s easy to disable in the settings if you prefer manual adjustment.
Next is the keystone correction screen, which allows you to adjust the image so it's not skewed. Again, you can do this via the remote.
Then there's the picture adjustment screen. Officially, the projector can project between 60 and 120 inches. A 120-inch screen is almost as wide as a double bed — wow, that’s huge! When placed on the ceiling, it really gives that home theater feel.
Next, I connected to Wi-Fi, and then used the Ali TV Assistant app to control the projector. Here are some screenshots of the app interface:
After setting everything up, I entered the main interface and clicked on a movie. The sound quality is great — clear treble, rich bass, and overall good audio performance. Although the video was shot in low light and had some compression, the actual image quality is quite sharp.
Overall, this projector has delivered a solid home theater experience. If you're looking for a smart projector with Youku content and good sound, this might be a great choice!
