Introduce two kinds of fixture design and quick change method in robot welding system

The ability to quickly change fixtures significantly enhances the utilization of welding equipment, allowing users to adapt their production processes as needed. This flexibility helps reduce redundant investments and equipment downtime. Additionally, with a quick-change fixture system, it is possible to first develop and test new products using existing robot welding lines during trial and small-batch production phases. This approach enables companies to avoid building a new welding line until mass production is required.

Design and Quick Change of the Entire Clamp Beam

A reliable quick-change connection between the clamp beam and the positioner is essential for efficient operations. This system typically involves locating pins on both sides of the clamp, with a pin sleeve mounted on one side of the positioner's flange and a key groove on the other. When connecting, the pins are guided by gravity into the pin sleeve and keyway, while flip screws on the connecting plate secure the joint. This design is simple, robust, and offers excellent positioning repeatability, making it a widely accepted standard in universal quick-change systems.

Fixtures typically weigh between 200 and 400 kg, so manual replacement can be labor-intensive. To streamline this process, auxiliary tools such as hydraulic stacker forklifts are often used. These can be modified with a clamp beam locking mechanism to prevent tipping or equipped with a quick-change forklift boot for faster handling. Such tools not only save time but also improve safety during fixture changes.

Quick Design and Quick Change of Small Fixtures and Parts

When clamps on a single clamp beam are highly interchangeable, standard quick-change clamp beams are ideal. In this case, the positioning pins on the clamp beam follow a standardized layout, allowing small fixtures to align with standard-sized positioning sleeves on the base plate. Quick-change washers are then used for fast clamping. This same structure can also be applied when switching between different workpieces on the same set of fixtures, ensuring consistent performance and efficiency.

For manual replacement of small fixtures or parts, it’s recommended to keep the weight around 20 kg to avoid the need for special tools. When replacing components, the air pipe between the cylinder and valve can be disconnected using a multi-way quick-change connector, leaving the valve attached to the clamp beam for reuse. Similarly, electronic cables can be disconnected via a multi-pin aviation plug, simplifying the process and reducing downtime.

With the above quick-change system in place, the time required to replace a single clamp can be reduced to under 10 minutes. This significant improvement in efficiency greatly enhances the overall productivity of the robotic welding system, making it more adaptable and cost-effective for modern manufacturing environments.
