Qualcomm and Lear Sign Electric Vehicle Wireless Charging Commercial License Agreement

Lear Corporation is the world's leading supplier of automotive seating and electrical systems. In this partnership, Lear will include Qualcomm HaloTM WEVC technology in its portfolio to support plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and pure electric vehicles ( EV) manufacturers and wireless charging infrastructure companies implement commercial use of WEVC systems.

Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, Qualcomm grants Lier the ability to develop, manufacture and deliver paid patent licenses for Qualcomm Halo-based WEVC systems, and Qualcomm will provide expertise and technical support.

It is understood that Qualcomm and Li Erzhen are cooperating on a number of WEVC production projects covering a number of auto manufacturers. Steve Pazol, vice president and general manager of wireless charging at Qualcomm, said: "Lear has the advantages of developing a broad portfolio of WEVC systems, including multi-coils, solenoids and ring systems to meet customer needs. We are very happy to be with Lee. We work closely together to support the commercialization of Qualcomm Halo technology and enable the commissioning of WEVC."

This means that Qualcomm provides Lear with a comprehensive technology transfer portfolio designed to enhance its ability to develop commercially viable WEVC systems and support the design of future enhanced WEVC systems.
