Molex develops the only single connector solution for LED TVs and monitors

Molex introduces the IllumiMate™ 1.00 and 1.25 mm pitch wire-to-board connector systems, offering a broader range of plug-in options and performance ratings than any similar system currently available. These connectors are specifically designed for flat panel LED TVs and PC monitors, addressing the evolving needs of manufacturers looking for flexibility, efficiency, and compact design. The IllumiMate series enables device makers to develop multiple models using a single connector type and PCB footprint, streamlining design processes and reducing costs. According to Goji Tanabe, Product Manager at Molex, "As manufacturers aim for higher resolution, lower power consumption, and thinner designs with enhanced functionality, the demand for advanced LED backlight solutions is on the rise. Previously, no single connector family could meet all these requirements. Molex’s new IllumiMate 1.00 and 1.25 mm pitch series not only satisfies the industry's need for narrow, low-power connectors but also offers the most comprehensive range of configurations available today. The variety of plug types and voltage options ensures greater flexibility for designers."  Compared to the 1.25 mm version, the 1.00 mm IllumiMate connector saves approximately 50% of board space and provides a lower voltage option to help reduce power consumption. Both versions offer different choices in terms of voltage, circuit size, and wire gauge, while sharing several key features: - **Self-friction locking** ensures secure connection and saves space, with anti-wire-tangling and intermediate friction locking that includes a visual patching window. - **Polarization guide ribs** protect the pins and prevent incorrect insertion or side-to-side movement. The 1.00 mm pitch model has guide ribs at the end of the housing, while the 1.25 mm version places them in the middle. - **Wide front pad** enhances PCB retention for improved stability. - **Dual contact terminal design** provides electrical protection and reduces insertion force, making it easier to use and more durable over time. With its innovative design and versatile capabilities, the IllumiMate series is setting a new standard in the world of high-performance, space-efficient connectors for modern electronics.
