Aeroflex recently released the Aeroflex E500 LTE capacity test system, which can support data transfer between TDD and FDD. Global network operators have provided the use of dual-standard networks as part of the rapid expansion of TD-LTE (LTE TDD) networks, so the delivery function of the E500 will help operators and network providers test TDD / FDD network.
Aeroflex's E500 LTE capacity test system allows operators to confirm the performance of their networks before actual operation. The capacity test system achieves this goal by allowing the network to load thousands to tens of thousands of UEs (user equipment), each of which can simulate different radio attenuation profiles by combining different data services in a multi-cellular environment .
The converged TDD / FDD network allows mobile operators to achieve the highest benefit from their spectrum investment, thus providing customers with the best quality services. Although TD-LTE is driven by the Chinese market, specific LTE TDD networks have been deployed in Brazil, Japan, and Saudi Arabia, while operators in Poland, Sweden, and the United States are also promoting dual-standard FDD and TDD LTE networks.
According to ARCchart, there are currently more than 50 mobile operators dedicated to the development of TDD mode for LTE, and TD-LTE users are expected to exceed 500 million by 2017. The ARCchart report shows that most of the current TD-LTE compatible mobile devices can support FDD and TDD mode operations, and its growth is mainly driven by the large number of unpaired spectrum used for TDD and the lower deployment costs provided by TDD technology.
