MALVERN, PA — December 18, 2013 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced that its Optoelectronics division has introduced the latest product in the PLCC-2 package, VLM.334... This series of LEDs can handle higher drive currents and thus increase luminous intensity. The new VLM.334... series of LEDs have been greatly improved on Vishay's VLM.31... series, and can be used with larger chips to withstand 70mA of drive current.
VLM.334...LED is AEC-Q101 certified and available in red, red, orange and yellow for a wide variety of applications including traffic lights and indicator lights, indoor and outdoor lighting, automotive dashboard lighting, and audio and video equipment. Lights and control lights, LCD switches and feature identification, light box advertising, and many other applications.
The VLM.334... series of devices use the most advanced AllnGaP technology, the brightness is very high, the typical luminous intensity reaches 3760mcd, the maximum luminous intensity at 70mA reaches 6052mcd, and the thermal performance is better than the previous generation LED. VLM.334... The thermal resistance of the PN junction of the LED to the surrounding environment is 300K/W, which is 25% lower than the previous VLM.333 product.
The VLM.334... series of LEDs are packaged in 8mm tape and reel. The device is RoHS and Vishay green, halogen-free, and can be pre-treated according to JEDEC Level 2a using an infrared reflow process.
Samples of the VLMx334... series of LEDs are available now and are in volume production. The lead time for major orders is six weeks.
