Competing with UAVs Courier robots appear on the streets of London

[Global Science and Technology Report] According to the British Broadcasting Corporation's April 17 news, Hermes Express announced that it began testing automatic receiving robots on the streets of London. The robot is developed by Starship Technologies, an Estonian delivery robot company. This six-wheel robot is mainly used to collect parcels.

In some parts of London, Just Eat, Britain’s largest food delivery provider, has used the robot to deliver food. The delivery robot is 55 centimeters high, 70 centimeters long, weighs 18 kilograms, and has a speed of 6.4 kilometers per hour.

Professor Andy Miah of the School of Environment and Life Sciences at the University of Salford believes that if delivery robots are spread over major cities, there may be some adverse reactions. He said: "At present, there are many pedestrians in big cities, and it is very difficult for delivery robots to drive on the streets."

Hermes Express will use delivery robots within a 2 mile (3.2 km) radius of the control center to collect a certain number of parcels within 30 minutes to test how the robots can complete tasks within a tight turnaround time. Each robot can carry a maximum of 10 kilograms of cargo under the premise of safety. The customer can use the robot by using the password sent to their smartphones.

The smooth running of the robot has many advantages over the drone in the air, such as the ability to carry heavier cargo and easier control of the driving route.

In contrast, Starship's ground robots will be closely monitored by operators. Each operator will supervise the three robots through the on-board camera, control them to cross the road or other challenging conditions. Starship said that each operator should be able to control up to 100 robots, which will greatly increase their operational cost-effectiveness.

Europe Plug

The manufacturing standard of the European standard plug (two rounds) is carried out according to the CE standard. European standard plugs are used in most European countries such as Germany, Austria, Holland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Russia. Since this standard is widely used throughout Europe, we call it the "Continental European" standard. The plug is two cylinders with a span of 19mm. The grounding level is completed by grounding the plugs on both sides. Central and Eastern Europe 7/7 European plugs have embedded pins, similar to French and Belgian sockets. The electrical parameter of the European standard socket is 10A-16A 230ACV AC power supply. The European standard socket is the safe socket in the world. The special grounding is mainly for the safety of people. Therefore, it is also the most widely used plug standard in the world. Note: The Italian standard plug has three cylinders and one wire, and the Danish and Swiss standard plugs have three cylinders into a triangle shape, and both have direct grounding pins.
