Sony unveiled its latest television lineup at CES 2018, featuring the A8F series of OLED TVs and the X900F series of LCD models. The A8F series is powered by Sony's advanced 4K HDR processor, the X1 Extreme, and includes the Acoustic Surface technology that was introduced with the A1E last year. This new OLED model also supports popular HDR formats like HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Unlike the A1E, the A8F uses a metal base at the bottom for structural support, giving it a more streamlined look.
The X900F series, on the
other hand, also features the X1 Extreme processor, but this time it's paired with the X-Dynamic Contrast Pro 6x technology. This enhances and adjusts the backlight in different areas of the screen, delivering better contrast and image quality. Additionally, the X900F comes with the X-Motion Clarity feature, which helps reduce motion blur in fast-paced scenes, making it ideal for sports and action movies.
Both the A8F and X900F models highlight Sony’s continued investment in high-quality picture processing and display technology. Notably, the A8F now includes an 85-inch variant, expanding the size range for consumers looking for larger screens. Meanwhile, Sony hinted at future advancements, announcing the development of the X1 Ultimate processor, which will offer double the power of the X1 Extreme and promises even greater performance.
